ZOO CAMP

BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo offers Zoo Camps year-round, including spring break, fall break, and winter break. Every Zoo Camp offers guided hikes through the Zoo, behind-the-scenes tours, animal encounters, keeper chats, crafts, games, and snacks.

BLUEBONNET SWAMP HOLIDAY CAMPS

Bring your child to Bluebonnet Swamp for three days of fun during the holiday breaks. They will participate in nature- based activities such as arts and crafts, live animal encounters, hikes, games, and a themed afternoon snack. Each day will be comprised of different activities, and campers will need to bring a bag lunch and drink each day. Activities for fall camp will focus on living off the land and preparing for the cold; activities in winter camp will revolve around hibernation and migration. Registration opens the first day of the month prior to camp.

Winter Wonders Camp: December 29-31

8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Ages: 6-12 / $75 per camp

Early drop off: 7:30 a.m.-8:30 a.m. / Late pick-up: 4:30-5:30 p.m.


BUSY BEE SPRING CAMP

Bring your child to Bluebonnet Swamp for three days of fun during the holiday break. They’ll be treated to nature-based activities such as arts and crafts, live animal encounters, hikes, games, and a themed afternoon snack. Each day will be comprised of different activities, and campers will need to bring a bag lunch and drink each day. Activities in spring camp will focus on springtime topics such as baby animals, blooming plants, and bees. Registration opens the first day of the month prior to camp.

MARDI GRAS HOLIDAY ART CAMP

You asked and we listened! Join us for three days of le bon temps rouler! This three-day camp will highlight traditions, art and history of our state’s infamous Mardi Gras through paint, pastels, collage and mixed media. We will have a good time with lots of creativity and cultural fun!

Must have 6 campers registered for the camp to take place.

NATURE EXPLORERS SPRING CAMP

Nature Explorers Camp is all about getting your child outside for a hands-on exploration of nature. Bring your camper to Frenchtown Conservation Area for three days of fun during Spring Break. Campers will explore the park and enjoy the great outdoors while learning exciting facts about the nature around them. Our activities are designed to keep your camper engaged, learning, and having a blast throughout the entire camp. Each day will be comprised of different activities, outdoor games, crafts, and experiments. Campers will need to bring a bagged-lunch, drink, and snacks each day.

WINTER HOLIDAY RIDING CAMPS

Holiday Riding Camp will teach your child basic riding skills, horsemanship, horse care, and stable management while enjoying the crisp Fall weather. Each camp session will focus on either English or Western style of riding. Campers will be in a smaller, more concentrated environment, taught by an instructor specializing in the chosen discipline. All campers will have their own horse to care for and will ride for at least an hour each day.

SPRING BREAK RIDING CAMPS

Come spend Spring Break horsin' around! Every camper will be paired with their own horse for the week, giving them a chance to bond, care for, and ride their horse daily. Campers will be in small groups led by experienced instructors and will focus on the fundamentals of riding both Western and English in a fun, hands-on environment. From grooming and feeding to learning how to tack up and ride, campers will get an authentic taste of stable life—all while making new friends and lasting memories. Spaces are limited, so grab your boots and get the jump into Spring Riding Camp!

SPRING SPACE EXPLORATION CAMP

Campers will explore the highlights of the American space program through interactive demonstrations, games, and hands-on science inquiry activities. Each session features a themed focus and gives campers the chance to build and launch their own single-stage chemical rocket while learning about upcoming missions and the latest space news.
All materials are provided; campers should bring a sack lunch and a drink that does not require refrigeration, along with a hat and sunscreen. Registration closes one week prior to each camp.
