PROFESSIONAL ARTIST SERIES
Our Professional Artist Series was such a success, we’re bringing it back! This BREC Art program is a great way to introduce our community to higher-end art experiences and to offer learning opportunities taught by local professional artists.
WRITING ART
How do we write what we see? Join Halley McArn, MFA, in a two-hour intensive on Writing Art. First, we’ll explore the work of art critics who use works of art to explore the contents of their lives. Then, we’ll find ourselves in art—writing ekphrastic poems about works of art that hold meaning for us. We’ll end by sharing our work and discussing techniques we can use to see and see the new world around us.
About the Artist:
Halley McArn is a writer and educator living in New Orleans. She holds an MFA from Louisiana State University. She has worked as an editorial assistant for The Southern Review, New Delta Review, and Speculative Nonfiction. She is the recipient of the William Jay Smith Award for Poetry and a Colgate Writers’ Conference Scholarship. You can find her work in Bright Wall/Dark Room.
