PROFESSIONAL ARTIST SERIES
Our Professional Artist Series was such a success, we’re bringing it back! This BREC Art program is a great way to introduce our community to higher-end art experiences and to offer learning opportunities taught by local professional artists.
FOLK ART PAINTING
Folk art has deep traditions that express life, history, culture and local identity using techniques and materials passed from generation to generation. Join professional artist, Holly Stone-Barker, to learn the charming style of folk painting. The workshop will focus on simple designs and bold colors to create a simple scene of flora and birds using acrylics on canvas.
About the Artist: Holly Stone-Barker, a graduate of Pratt Institute, has illustrated several children’s books, is releasing the first in a series of six in February and is currently planning another series. Her inspiration comes from her travels in the Middle East where intricate patterns and bold colors left a lasting impression. Holly has been teaching art for the past 20 years, ensuring the success of each student and instilling a life-long appreciation for the difference art can make.
